Australian Grand Prix 2014, Melbourne - Race 1/19

Alarm set for 4am Friday... :)

Am I missing something, practice starts at 1.30 and 5.30 on Friday morning? why 4am?

One thing we basically have no clue of at all is, how these cars will perform behind other ones. Will Ferrari qualify 6th but be the only car that can overtake well, either through highest speed down straights or just the best aero when in the slipstream.

Will every car following another one have their engine fail as they are all so close to the overheating limit :p

How damn fast that Ferrari was is the speed traps seems odd to me, I can't imagine they didn't do their best to sandbag the official lap times but based on their raw speed I can't imagine they weren't very fast in their own unofficial laps. but engine efficiency, race pace, all unknown.

It is great going into a weekend not having a 99% chance of a Vettel win and 70% chance of a Vettel pole.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Hello everyone. Can. Not. Wait. :D :D

See y'all Sunday silly o clock. Rain dance anyone? :p

Nice one. AMD I'm sire you'll do great.
"and no we don't want rain dance, we want sun song.
Need to have 5 season worth of breakdowns in one race. Its been to long without reliability and I hope this season is gull of issues.

Can not bloody wait.

I still think a lot of the rules (especially the new engines) is a load of old crap but given it looks to be the most competitive season for five years I expect i'll watch a few of the races.

I expect i'll struggle with 6am mind. :D

Record P1 and watch it 4am to 5.30am, then P2 live from 5.30am to 7am, then go to work :)

Same Saturday, getting up an hour before the quali show starts to watch P3 recorded then into live action.

I'll do what I usually try, stay up all night and sod it I'll be tiered at work.

What usually happens, watch it to end of p1, fall asleep and watch p2 when I get back from work.

I had the dreadful realisation then that I have a Christening to go to next weekend....then I remembered that its in Aus!!! Wooooo!! Cant wait.

6.05 maybe ;)

And just to make it even more interesting, early weather forecasts predict rain for the whole weekend.

Lmao. That's optimistic!
I'll be interested in the pre show but that's it most likely this year.
I can't remember when I started watching f1 but I know it must be a good 12yrs
Just don't love it anymore. Watched for the team.

If you look at the hourly forecast then Friday and Saturday are bone dry.
Sat night through to 5pm is 50% chance of rain and even then barely anything. Less than 1mm

I really hope there is no rain. Any of the last maybe 4 seasons I'd have loved it for the unpredictability, but damn it, an entire winter, 3 tests, thousands of miles done on most of the cars and I haven't really got a clue who will do well. I want a fairly clean practice/qualifying to see what happens. Hope there aren't any/many failures till the latter stages of the race, if a Ferrari goes bang in the first 10 laps we'll get no idea how fast their pace was in race.

I'm really excited to see who is where and really don't want anything to ruin that this weekend. Kind of hoping we have someone do similar to Merc last year, epic in qualifying, rubbish race pace, just to troll everyone. I think there will be loads of jumping to conclusions after Q3, will just be funny if the order changes massively in race. If Vettel or Riccy pole or win, I might cry.
