When was the track built?

The deal to host Formula 1 in Melbourne was done in 1993, with the decision taken to create a circuit using a mixture of the existing roads around the city’s Albert Park – mainly Aughtie Drive and Lakeside Drive if you fancy driving it yourself – with a little detour through the Lakeside Stadium’s car park.

Were you there for that race? If so I’m very jealous!
Aye, my wife and I were there. We had seats on the start finish straight, almost right opposite the podium. It was a glorious day, we’d been up since stupid o’clock because we went in by coach and we’d had a couple of beers. With earplugs in, we both nodded off for a few minutes during the race itself!

But this is seriously OT, sorry.

Latiffi is the new Grosjean.

Although it’s amusing to see how Grosjean is doing in Indy, watched the practise session just now and he was fastest.

Interestingly they’ve added an event note about SC restarts reminding drivers about erratic braking and accelerating and have gone so far as having “do” and “don’t” pictures of where you can place your car :D
I saw this was reported but haven’t seen the pictures. I notice that they’ve said no part of the car can be alongside the one in front which will disappoint Max.

I missed their explanation of this. Is it now clear that cars have to run single file behind each other at the restart? Or were they saying something about not being alongside the front win or something? (Rear wing?). As I said all along what MV was doing was inherently dangerous, so I’m glad they’ve sorted it out.

Here you go, complete with diagrams of what’s acceptable and what isn’t.
