Hi guys,

Does anyone know of a (preferably free) piece of software that can boot up and shutdown my Windows Home Server at a particular time of day for both booting and shutting down?

Perhaps this is even something built-in and I've just failed to see it.

I've had a search around and there are some pieces available, but I'm unsure how reliable they are or if this is even possible.

Some BIOS have auto startup options in them and you could use the shutdown command in a scheduled task (or as a batch file and make the scheduled task do it) fairly easily. Making dinner at the moment so don't have the time to post how at the mo :)

Yeah this BIOS is a bit antiquated and doesn't have those options.

If you could post how when you have a moment that would be awesome my friend. I guess powering up however isn't something you can do in a scheduled task :)

OK well that handles shutting down. I guess I need to figure out something to power it up if it's even possible!

Might be usefull, might not.

When i was browsing a free Symbian software site there was an option to 'remotely' start your PC with your phone via Wake on Lan.

There should be software with a similar function, maybe you could use it on another PC if you have one running all the time and set an alarm to to start it up.
