What software do the professionals use to make them sound good and give their voices that electronic tone to it?

I've got to write a song (an option of many) for an end of school project, but I cannot sing to save my life!

I'm fairly sure a lot use Melodyne studio.

Antares Auto-tune, that's what most pros use.

Melodyne and, the usual, Antares Autotune are the two big ones. A vocoder (/harmoniser) or talk box is another option.
