I'm off to The Cube in B'ham shortly and the parking facility there is automated - trying to put it simply - a robot handling system takes the car off you and "files" your car.

When you want it back you give it a token/code and it goes pulls it out of the filing system and delivers it to you.

Frankly....I'm scared.

Anyone else experienced similar & entrusted their car to a freakin robot?

I've used to use 1 in London frequently, just make sure your mirrors are folded, that if you are driving the car into the lift that it's in the centre and make sure your wheels are pointing straight ahead. Apart from that you leave your keys in the ignition and make sure the steering lock hasn't engaged.

That actually voids your insurance but presumably there's absolutely no way of your car being mixed up/stolen from the "rack"?

Well, I used that automated car park for a good few years as did a work colleague and in that time they did once or twice bring the wrong car down for me and for my colleague.

No idea how or why it happened and I never really gave it a second thought at the time except to tell them that it wasn't my car. I think it was once explained to me that on some occasions they have to shuffle cars around so my car wasn't where it was originally stored
