Automatic driveway gates.

I want to get automated gates fitted to my driveway but have had several people say FAAC rams/controllers are the best and my preferred installer saying they thing BFT systems are better with a longer warranty.

The gates are to fit a 3.7m wide drive so each ram driving just less than half that size gate.

Anyone got any experience or words of wisdom on these?

Both are good. Nice, BFT, Came, FAAC. Metal or wooden gate? Solid or frame?

We have an automated metal BFT gate and it works well although I'm not sure what functionality they should have other than open/close?

In addition to sensors preventing the gate crushing your car at the point of entry you should nowadays always choose motors with amperometric detection system. It's basically anti-crush failsafe, if the motor detects opposite force or slowdown it presumes an object, child or animal is being crushed and reverses the motion or reverses and stops if the photocells indicate car is already entering.

They are metal framed gates but with wood on the front so they just look like wooden gate. He did say the rams BFT rams he fits have anti crush on them and are hydraulic. He is also quoting me for different types of controls as well as he said they are loads of different add on depending what you spec (I.e. lights etc ). Seems like they are a reasonable system then which is what I wanted to hear.

My mate fits BFT, and has done for years with only 1 failure and that was after the gate had been crashed into by a quad bike. He's dealt with FAAC and prefers BFT.
