Automatic Watches

Automatics are great, I have an Omega Ladymatic (455 calibre) from 1956 - it was the smallest automatic made at the time...

It runs accurately enough for me - i.e. I have been wearing it constantly since Autumn and not really noticed it gaining or losing... Mind you in that time it's changed timezone a few times!

arhhh i wondered what an auto watch is. My armani watch is auto but ive always know it to be called kinetic movement even in shop i think it was called kinetic movement? bascally its energy comes from my wrist movement and it does not miss a minute.

Kinetic watches charge a capacitor and are driven by a quartz crystal. Whereas automatics use the potential stored in a spring. Automatic watches generally last at most 48 hours without being moved before stopping. Kinetics can go for months because of the battery charge.

Recently got myself my first Automatic Watch, a Seiko 5 (with blue military strap); good watch, haven't really noticed it running at time fast but that's because I turn my time 5 minutes ahead (out of habit and time keeping) - and also every week, when I don't wear it over the weekend, i have to readjust the time on Monday as the spring runs out of energy (roughly 30hours spare)
