Automobilista

No problems setting up AA in control panel for me,it takes like 5 seconds so hardly worth mentioning as being amateur.

Customizing the hud isn't necessary and not something expected in a sim either, I'm just grateful I can customize it if I deem fit.
The sim is still in early access and things are still changing.

@ MikeTheNative Go with the normal version ie early access, you must have had beta access as a backer.

Another quick vid while I'm at it, not mine, taken from racetube over on RD.

I'm really annoyed. It's gone up to £29.99 on Steam even though it's still in Early Access.

Why must I pay £6 more for the same "beta" experience?

They had it on offer for a week at reduced cost, guess you were just too late unfortunately.

Trust me its a hell of a bargain for that price.
Ive updated the car and track list in my OP above.

I thought it was on offer until the Early Access phase ends :(

I found a key on G2A for ~£24 so I might grab that later.

Check the Automobilista forums over at Race Department if you haven't already done so :

Check the user guide.pdf in the /support folder. It tells you what to do regarding AA.

I have tried everything and I'm completely baffled as to why nothing saves. I have even tried fooling the game by editing the 'defaults' it keeps going to (Digital Game Controller) with the T500RS.ini and that seems to get somewhere but ONLY for a single time after hitting the > to start a race/test/tt even then it doesn't feel 'right', I feel every bump/kerb on the track and engine vibration/brake vibration perfectly but there is absolutely ZERO tyre feel or even much resistance when turning, it feels really wrong and weird, if I leave that particular event it loses all the settings I've done and restarting a race will result in the wheel going nuts.

The game is even starting to troll me now depending on which car I drive, if I choose one with a pit-limiter I CANNOT switch the pit-limiter off, it keeps defaulting to a toggle on 'Joy_24' which I don't have.... So some cars will only do 37MPH..GG.

The only thing I can possibly think of causing my issues is my weird STEAM set up, I have STEAM pointing to two different drives, which are both not the usual C: drive. Every time I try and Verify Game Files on STEAM it says 5 Files will be re-acquired but then doesn't download anything...

It's not the T500RS/Drivers itself either as it works fine on AC/PC/DR/D3/GRiD.

Anyway I give up and will just hope for an update or patch. :(

EDIT And lo and behold, what do I see STEAM has downloaded tonight! An Update/Patch!! :D

  • Main changelog:
  • Changed FFB levels and adjusted default settings both for better clarity as well as improving their default settings: instead of Low/Medium/High/Full, now Pure 360hz/Pure 180hz/Pure + Effects 1 / Pure + Effects 2 / Pure + Effects 3. Pure 360hz is the recommended for purest & higher fidelity FFB; Pure 180hz may be better suited for high end wheels with performance issues triggered by the high rates; The others add levels of extra "canned" effects from the game engine also se to 180 hz to avoid performance issues
  • Updated Java version for better compatibility with Win10 systems
  • Corrected errors with DynHUD fuel widget scaling & displays with imperial units
  • Initial pass of updated TV overlay graphics (still very early)
  • Various UI corrections
  • Max Framerate set to 120 by default for new profiles (consistent FPS is important to minimize tearing / stuttering)
  • Fixed bug with settings not being saved in the controller.ini when they should
  • Adjusted default AMS Config settings: Full Screen; remove advanced FSAA options as they don't work; set to desktop resolution rather than 1920x1080 (please run Config again if you had any issues)
  • Added a message to the in-game lobby so people are aware the matchmaker needs to be accessed from the Steam client for now
  • Corrected various championship schedules & default rules for various series
  • Enhanced tire skid and scrub volume calculation and updated tire sounds for all cars accordingly
  • Scaled down Rental Kart chassis to more accurate dimensions
  • Reduced default mirror resolution marginally & adjusted Mirrors and cockpit POV for F301 & FV10
  • Fixed F-V10 rear right tire UV mapping
  • Fixed missing safety rollcage bar for Honda Civic external model
  • Corrected mirror positions in Lancer R & RS
  • Corrected Indian Momentum team not showing up for the F-Extreme
  • Fixed omni on chicane road meshes and added collision mesh to fence inside final turns for Taruma.
  • Fixed error with Lancer Rallycross in lower detail settings
  • Fixed CTD with lower circuit detail settings at Inter kart layouts
  • Fixed Foz pitlane layout causing excessive rattling
  • Fixed Interlagos DRS & tire rules
  • Small physics improvements to Supertruck, Lancer Rallycross & F-Extreme
  • Fixed electronic driving aids being incorrectly enabled for F-V12
  • Several minor AIW corrections for newer layouts
  • Fixed F-V10 head physics
  • Enabled refuelling for F-V10
  • Disabled advanced transmission code for sequential boxes until further developments
  • Minor AI behavior adjustments & improvements

I can't wait to try this tomorrow!!:eek::D

This game is really, really good. The FFB feels completely different to Assetto Corsa though. I don't seem to feel any slip in Automobilista but I've got the FFB set to Pure 360Hz at the moment which may be the cause.

I did a Formula 3 race last night with 20 other people, and the netcode is just brilliant. It's difficult to describe, but in Assetto Corsa the collision boxes seem to be bigger than the car which causes some odd accidents.

Im very very tempted in this as my new wheel arrives tomorrow. Is this still popular ? Many people racing online ?

I must say physics / feedback wise it looks brilliant.

I haven't played it in a while but it feels great and there is a good selection of cars. Sadly there is not enough big tracks, a lot of Brazil ones you have never heard, a lot are fun though. Don't know much about online though, as I have iracing for that.

A big update is due soon which includes 1967 F1 cars - Didn't see that one coming!

I have never understood why Papyrus never released their back catalogue on Steam/GOG - I am sure their games would sell by the bucket-load?

I genuinely feel that this is a hidden gem of a game. Sadly not on par of Assetto Corsa in relation to eye-candy, but the physics and AI are both excellent. There is a massive range of cars from seventies F1 through to Go-Karts, all are enjoyable and convincing.

I have to say this is the first sim since GPL whereas it has the virtual "fear" factor when racing some of the cars especially on some of the period tracks included.

Apparently a few UK GP circuits are in the pipeline - including Cadwell Park! :)

Any recommended mods for for this? Assuming there's the basic Sweetfx/ENB, can't find that many car/track mods unless I've looked in the wrong places.

Derp, just seen the posts above..

christ sake, why 67 again, its in every game now, the engines too much for the tyres and chassis, and the tyres suck. much rather have other uncovered years of f1, pre ww2 (theres like 1 mod) ac has the front engined 250f now atleast. or 69/72 or something "new"

i think there was demo's of forumula truck and game stock car, and some rfactor mods by the same guys, niels https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJqQWwDJlMg
think theres nsx, corvette, 1990s f1 car, mp4/4 by the same people you can try for free
