Automount Network Shares in OSX

hello!

i am getting sick of mounting my network shares in osx when i log in , how do i mount them without them opening? i just want the icons to be there so when i go to open programs i dont have to keep going Doh! close the program, mount the share, then reopen the programe. i know it can be done... i had a look on Google... but i am still a little baffled! ive been using OSX for about 2 months now and this is the only thing i haven't been able to solve :(

help me automount my network shares! (3 of em)
 
so out of all the mac gurus here no one knows how to automount shares? :rolleyes:

Create aliases to the shares you want to mount and then add them aliases to your startup prefs in Accounts.
 
The only problem with running them on login is when the machine sleeps, and you wake it, the mounts are gone! There is a program somewhere (sleepwatcher?) that will mount them when you wake the machine :)
 
Also, I could be wrong, but should you boot the computer up and the shares are not available, OSX might hang for ages. Ive never tried it - I know it hangs like a **** when shares get disconnected - just sommet to be wary of.

God I hope so. I really do. Its a pain in the ASS when my work mate shuts his Mac down at work and I have shares mounted from his computer. I bascially have to just turn it off at the mains cause it just sits there with a stupid spinning beachball. One of my main MUST DESTROY APPLE things.
