There is a thread over at PH at the moment regarding these, i am thinking of ordering a set, my cars are absolutely awful in the winter conditions and i live in the country with a lot of untreated roads.

Anyone got any experience with them?

Jeeves on ice is a pay per view event i'm affraid! :p

Smart idea if it works, no experience but if they turn out to be good and are cheap enough i might get a set, off to our cottage in the lakes for christmas and i usually end up getting stuck at some point!

I wasn't sure they were aimed at the UK market, but I guess if you get quite a lot of snow and ice on the raods near you they might be a worthy investment.

Joking aside I live in the town and struggle with the snow and ice as I live at the top of a hill. Grit or no grit - it's strictly a 4WD job.

330xd next then? :D

I have nothing to add to the thread other then yes driving on snow and ice is hard, except in a carpark, then it's brilliant.

No hills here, just stupid amounts of ice and 275 width tyres combined with a computer which cuts all power when it detects anything which you cannot turn off. Bloody impossible :(

Must look into getting the butler to drive me around ;)

Maybe a letter to your council advising them of the untreated road(s)?

I remember trying to get my auto 330 off the drive. Did not bother in the end no traction whatsoever.

Yeah, cba writing to the council for more reasons than just the fact that they will ignore it :p

County roads around here have those grit bins, so you instead of neighbour hood watch, you could have neighbour hood grittarz. Could even have some hi-vis jackets made with "hood grittaz" embossed on the back :)

A couple of years ago we did this...well not the highvis jackets, but the gritting the road ourselves.

We had thick snow and ice and people still were trying to go up and down the rather steep hill near my house, so we wandered down there with shovels and gritted it ourselves. :)

See it works then, Jez here is your solution. Get the wife/gf to do it about 5pm before the frost sets in. Make sure the teas in the oven before she starts though in case she overruns :p
