I just wanted to start a thread to vent my annoyance with this "autotune" in all kinds of music recently.

I think that idiot kanye west started it all off again, but everytime I turn on the radio, theres a song on that sounds like a cover of cher's "do you believe in love".

I think its getting out of hand, who actually likes it, it sounds like music for star wars robots.

Stop it, stop it now.

Pretty face and body but a voice from the gutter...no offence to the Geordies like:p:D
 
yea i hate autotune... my wife is stupid thinks all these idiots like JLS are great when its obvious they have disguised the vocals as much as possible...

she didnt even realise they were doing it on xfactor lol... she was like omfg yea this one can sing erm im sure she can...

i got the laptop stuck the cat meowing autotune on and laughed at her

wow amazing 2 cats that sound just like most of the vocals in popular "music" these days

he may have started it off, but his new stuff deffinately isn't auto tune... listen to the stuff from his GOOD FRIDAYS work, deffinately not autotune... but yes i agree there is soo much dribble... out of all the hip-hop/ R&B the only mainstream people i can listen to are kid cudi, kanye and jay-z.. (and a bit of eminem aswell, but im trying not to sound like a chav)... auto tunes are fine for clubs, but i wish people would broaden their horizons further than what music channels shove down their throats... I'm biased since im a big Kanye fan, i can understand 808's and heartbreak was autotune with all the robot voice, but all his other stuff is fairly good

are you sure? autotune isnt suposed to be so noticeable its meant to be a very subtle effect but for some reason people have it on an extreme setting

no, i'm not sure, but the good fridays work is mostly experimental collab work, more technical rapping than making songs to sell... and with Jay-z's input, and opinion on autotune, except where its used as a clear effect, i don't think its been used, at least not to cover poor voices..


-- It was also Kanye's idea to make the blueprint 3 without autotune, and afaik he was a big inspiration in making D.O.A .... so while Kanye may have started it, he's also trying to put an end to it...

I don't care if someone like Kanye uses it for artistic reasons... I just can't stand the fact that every pop song nowadays has vocals that don't even sound like they're sung by a human being. I heard Katy Perry's Teenage Dream single the other day and it doesn't even sound like her singing. Compare her voice on there to on I Kissed A Girl and they sound totally different.

True, the only reason why she is so popular is because she is very hot.

The worst artist I can think of for autotune is Ke$ha.
 
The amount of auto tune on daytime radio 1 is pathetic. Why does a radio station that prides it's self on pioneers like peel have all this attune nonsense. The show producers should be ashamed for giving it airtime
