I have a huawei p9 and it's pretty nice.
Pros/cons: it's fast but not quite as fast as the lasted flagships (lg g5, s7, moto z, htc one. Basically anything with SD820). Great build quality. Fast finger scanner. Quality screen (although only full hd). Largish battery, especially for a thin phone. Speaker is decent but not amazing. Camera is really good but low light performance isn't as good as s7 or iphone from what I understand.
Reviews I have seen or read often say that there are no deal breakers with this phone except maybe the price (launched @ £450) and that it's a good phone.
Subjectively I think the p9 is beautiful, maybe too beautiful since I'm often worried about damaging it. It's made from aluminium and glass. I bought a case but I don't really want to use it. Having only had cheap android phones in the past, this one's camera was a revelation to me compared to those.
The worst thing about it is the emui 4.1 skin because it has a few bugs. Lastpass for example needs the accessibility option is settings to be on or it can't insert passwords into chrome and emui keeps turning accessibility off for some reason, so I copy/paste them from the app instead (*update* turning 'ignore optimizations' in setting fixed this). Some apps, like firefox, won't stay running in the background for more than about 16 minutes no matter if setting are set to keep it running. I use it for listening to youtube with the screen off, since firefox allows it. I've ended up using tasker to open firefox every 15 minutes automatically, on/off via a widget, to stop it getting closed by emui.
Another bad thing is that all icons have ugly borders by default but that's changed easily enough.
I think you should wait to see what the new iphone brings and unless it blows you away you could consider the s7 and htc one. But if you can get a good deal or just like it's build/looks (like me), the p9 might be worth checking out. Android 7 with emui 5 are on the way so maybe those bugs will get fixed. I certainly hope so
