Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1 Sound Card : Driver issues

Hi,

I'm outputting over SPDIF (Dolby Digital Live) and using X-Fi CMSS-3D (Stero Surround) to upmix to my speakers and I'm constantly getting problems with looping sounds e.g. the card will stop respoding and just play a loop of a tiny bit of sound!

Anybody getting the same?

i get stuttering, happens after about 15mins. im using vista x64. its annoying and only happens in optical mode. going to buy a new soundcard soon

i know mine is new too. looks like we both have the same problem then, i cant find a fix for this, but im reinstalling tonight to try again.

If I set mine to 16bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality) it's fine, I can't pervceive any difference in quality tbh.

yeah just set it to this and no stuttering! not that much of a difference sound wise

S/PDIF doesn't have the bandwidth for multichannel 24bit/192Khz, and DD only does up to 16bit/48KHz.
I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to do and with what settings but I think that may explain it?

i feel silly now lol. and i wondered why my DD kept freezing up at 24.192.

could coax output this? or could i use analogue?

S/PDIF is both, one 'interface' with two connections.

Use analogue if you want multichannel at higher resolutions and bit depths, it's only limited by what the card can do.

Well I'm currently outputting to all 5 speakers over SPDIF at 24 bit, 96000 Hz with no cracks/pops!

im using Dolby digital 16bit/48KHz in 5.1
