Hi,

I am looking for an AV amp with two HDMI outputs ( one for the TV and one for the projector) only one of them to be active at any one time. 4+ HDMI inputs, spec'd for HDMI 1.4. Passive pass-through would also be a bonus (not needing to turn the amp on to feed the signal from my cable tv box to the tv through the amp.

Suggestions of contenders please. Cheaper is better but quality is also reasonably important.

Thanks
RB

You generally have to pay for two outputs but Yamaha do them starting with the RX-V767, Denon with the AVR-3311 so you can see the only cheap option is to buy a splitter :)

Your going to be paying at least £1000 for a amp that meets your criteria with sufficient quality.

I found this bargain though for you

Or as mentioned above, the Yamaha RX-V767 has 2 Hdmi out, all 1.4 spec'd and supporting 3D etc..

And it's £399 in titanium from Weymouth Hifi.. Mind you, the delivery might be a killer? Any Yamaha stockists near you?

Hi

The Yamaha RX-V767 does everything you need it even has standy through mode so the amp can be left it standby and still be used.

I bought mine when they first came out so i paid quite a bit more but they can be had now for around £400 which is a bargain for what features you get.

Yep cheaper option is the HDMI spliter

I went for the above and the Sony 810, has everything you need (I've got the same set up your after 46" TV with a 100" Electric Screen for the weekends (drops down just in from of the HDTV) and shows the same picture (although I obviously turn of the TV).

Thanks everyone,

Yes, have thought about the splitters but would like to minimise devices in the projector HDMI chain as I am running at 16 meters so far (without issue) and do not want to introduce something that may reduce signal strength to a point where I may start having issues.

We also have the multi-box/remote issues now with 5 boxes in the living room looking fine but 7 remotes (projector and TV + the 5 boxes). Another box and remote is not preferred. Setup also needs to be wife friendly and if she has to use more than two remotes it will fail the 'wife approval factor' ;). An all in one remote may be a future option but I don't really have the time to set one up to make it wife friendly (used to have an old Philips Pronto).

The Yammy 767 sounds encouraging although I will have to source around a bit to find somewhere which sells. I was originally looking at the Onkyo 608 but as it has only one HDMI out I think I will have to pass. I have been told that the shop I bough the projector has some slightly older Marantz amps which have dual HDMI out but do not support HDMI 1.4 (not such a big issue for me) for a 'good price' (yet to be revealed). Any idea what model they could be so I can do a bit of research ?

Thanks for pointing out some great deals but as Demon has mentioned, it may be a bit expensive to have the unit shipped over to my in Singapore. Probably close to what it would cost to buy locally (big markup on HiFi over here).

Yep ssmacc, I am loving the setup. Have a manual screen as an automatic one was over double the price (S$360 manual / S$1000+ for motorised). I find myself watching more and more on it now rather than on my plasma. That may change with a dual HDMI output amp though as I no longer need to manually swap connections. I may have to invest in a new lamp as at this rate I am bound to wear out the original fairly quickly :D.
