AV - Paid for

Another vote for NOD32. Have three licences at home, and two at my parents. Just renewed for another year.

Hate that the best AV's are for corporate use mostly. Like Symantec's Norton brand is awful, but their corporate Symantec Endpoint Protection is fantastic.

I hope you dont mind me jumping in on this thread. I got a free subscription to Norton Internet security with my MOBO. The subscription has just expired (although it says its until april?) so I need to either re-sub £39.99 or choose something else.

Reccomendations?

Running Vista 64bit FWIW

I am leaning towards kapersky, but will install nod32 in a vm image and have a play.

Whatever I go for I need to cover 4 machines.

i'll on go for AV rather than a total security suite.

I got Eset Smart Security as advised here. Look very much less unobtrusive than Norton and I got a 2 PC licence for 44 quid

ESET smart security can be had for about half the price of that from the ESET website if you're a student. Can't post a link as OCUK also sell ESET software.

So you went for the all in one solution in the end? I've been looking at that, but thinking of just going with the AV side of things.

Yeah, well I had Norton, and it seemed to be doing a good job, the only thing that put me off about Norton was that it is too in your face.

Eset just sits their, does it stuff without the bling.

Pretty impressed with it actually. I have everything turned on and have not got any annoying messages when I open programs and apps, its very clever and seems to have a better AI than Norton (if that's the correct phrasiology)

Like I said, I bought a 2 PC licence. My old PC that my boy uses was running Norton too. That expired a long time ago, and knowing my son downloads crap I thought it was wise to protect his PC too.

I am happy with my purchase so far. I will keep this thread updated in the comming weeks with my opinions.

I'm running a trial with the basic AV product at the moment, but will try the full suite later on. Very minimal so far and we'll see how it gets on.

This is on a re-built Vista x64 business laptop, so apps still need to be loaded.

Be keen to see what you think.

Well it seems ok at the moment - I uninstalled the basic AV product from NOD32 and have installed the full security suite as I'm also testing it for my parents machines. At my house I'll have the basic AV on my main rig and security suite on my laptop.

Then I'll make a decision as I need to cover 4 machines.

Well NOD marked most of my emails as spam (they come through message labs) so I install Kaspersky on another box and no such issues. So I'm about to go for Kaspersky
