I have 2 Yamaha AMPS in the same room as one runs my setup downstairs. My problem is the remotes are exactly the same and every time I use the remote downstairs, its turning both AMPS on using a lot more electricity than I need.

Is there any way round this, so they don't work on the same IR channel?............ Am using a magic IR transmitter downstairs which sends all the commands upstairs :)

On my Onkyo I'm pretty sure there's a setting in the menus that lets you change the remote ID (and a subsequent combination of button presses to do on the remote to make it match), maybe check both of your Yamahas for a similar thing?

Just had a quick look in the manual for my Yamaha DSP-AX757SE, and it has a Remote option in the Advanced Settings menu:

Remote REMOTE
Use to switch the ID for the remote control of this unit.
Choices: ID1, ID2
• Select ID1 to operate this unit using the default code.
• Select ID2 to operate this unit using an alternative
code.
You must also make settings for the remote control (see page 69).
