Hi guys,

I'm helping someone sort their TV out and basically it's going to be wallmounted.

I was wondering if i need an AV reciever to allow the user to plug in different boxes, sky, dvd player etc without having to attach stuff to the back of the TV every time?

Am i right in thinking this? And are all AV recievers compatible with all tvs?

all depends on how many connections the tv has and how many boxes you want to connect to it.

my tv has 2 scarts, 3 hdmi, pc input and component input so i can effectively use all those providing the boxes i'm connecting has the suitable connections.

AV receivers usually have HDMI, component, s-video and composite switching. Meaning if you have devices with only SCART you'll need the relevant cable. But better models will also upscale these sources :)
