Hi all,

Im moving my broadband to my new home with Zen. Using the BT checker it gives me the following information:

For Telephone Number 016287717xx on Exchange MAIDENHEAD

Your exchange has ADSL broadband.

Our initial test on your line indicates that you should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a line rate of 1Mbps, 512Kbps or 256Kbps. However due to the length of your line the 1Mbps service may require an engineer visit who will, where possible, supply the broadband service.

If you decide to place an order, a further test will be performed to confirm if your line is suitable for the service you wish to purchase.

Thank you for your interest.

Does anyone know what the engineer would have to do? Is there anyone here who could confirm what speed I can get?

Thanks

The engineer visit is just a precaution - you might not need it. It's only because (it reckons) you can't get 2Mbps.
Order 1Mbps and see where you go from there.

well Im migrating my 2mbps service, so hopefully i'll get the 2 meg. If not I guess they'll call me to inform me :)

Thanks

Based on that checker result, it'll fail.
would they definitely go by that checker? I dont see how the checker is accurate as the phone line was only installed today.

Zen might not (per se), but BT should.

I dont see how the checker is accurate as the phone line was only installed today.

It's quite probable you're getting a different record for that number then. It should sort itself out though (but you might be well advised to be sure Zen know that's the deal).

Note: If you have already placed an order for Broadband and now wish to change to a new supplier, then you will need to cancel the existing order with your service provider or your new request will be rejected.

hmm the BT checker is a bit pants really. Ive just checked my previous line which I had an excellent 2meg service on, and the BT checker says it can only have a 1 meg line!
