Available Memory issue with Windows 7

I did read several posts about the heatsink being attached too tightly affecting the triple channel cpu's and boards but seriously if that is the case or what you have mentioned I would think they need to re-think their product testing methodology before selling to consumers!

OP, try putting 4GB sticks in DIMMs slots A1 and B1, plus 2GB sticks in DIMM slots A2 and B2. This should result in 12GB in dual channel running at the speed of the slowest sticks. The reason is it will be interesting to see if that still shows 8GB in Windows or the full 12GB.

You can't mix sizes with the tri-channel stuff
This is incorrect. You can't run different sizes in different channels but you can run different sizes in the same channel, I.E 4GB+2GB in each channel.

Tri channel boards do not boot with a single stick
Unless there is a board specific lockout, they should, the amount of channels the board supports is the maximum amount of channels you can use not the minimum.

That board was a nightmare for ram compatibility. Corsair stuff was strange in it. It would work sometimes and then other times show wrong memory. IIRC at the time the Kingston memory seemed to cure the issues.
