These new boards from Razer dont have cherry switches but instead come with switches optimised by Razer to be more focussed for gaming.

The switches are made by a company called Kailh for Razer.

Altered activation points and weighting make them ideal for gaming.

Whats more is that the Razer switches dont pay licensing costs to cherry meaning the switches are cheaper to produce.

This is fantastic news for you lot because it means you can get a Razer Mechanical Keyboard for a lot less money than last years 2013 model which had cherry switches.

the new Razer switches made by Kailh have the same sort of design as a cherry switch meaning they are compatible with aftermarket keycaps and keyboard mods.

pictures are US with the item not being out yet we can't update the photos Also Images are for display purposes as defined in our T's & C's

You can assume if it says UK layout it is a UK layout.

all of our keyboards listed are UK layout unless stated otherwise in the product description.

as mentioned above, there are no stock images of the board in any other layout yet

this is what happens when you are a market leader and have products available for pre order before other retailers.

While I am more than happy with my Filco, a Razer Mech at this price point is certainly very reasonable.

The only looming questions is - Are the non-cherry switches up to the task?

I once received a French QPAD from OCUK haha! But Bailey/5UB quickly fixed that

I was hoping it would allow me to type in French but alas, Non!

Are these reasonably priced? Hmmmmm not sure tbh. But I stupidly bought the Strike 7 @ £250 so maybe I am not the best person to comment

:)

my personal opinion [which in no way represents the views of the company i work for etc]

is that they are reasonably priced - for a razer product.
it is the same chassis used on last years boards so the reduction in manufacturing costs and the removal of external licensing costs inherent to cherry equipped boards is removed.

Its cool that Razer passed on the saving to the customer. for someone in the market for a razer board, this is fantastic news.

although other brands are available with the tried and tested cherry switches for less than these boards but obviously dont come with the associated razer brand kudos.

It is good to see a reduction on mech boards even if it only brings the premium brands down into line with the less premium brands.

I'll be interested to see some user reviews, but i'm not brave enough to buy one without knowing how good the switches are.

Not sure why you don't have pictures of the UK layout? I'd not buy because of that instantly. Yes, the actual keyboard may be a UK layout but without knowing the size and actual dimension of some keys (which some manufacturers like to change) is off putting.

Contact Razer and tell them you want pictures. I find it hard to believe there is only one layout of this keyboard in existence.

the keyboard was announced last week and put live this week.
Believe it or not, UK region is possibly one of the smallest markets world wide for Razer so localised images for us are very much at the bottom of their priority list.

not many keyboard manufacturers actually provide localised product SKU images for their products. it has always been this way. I cant see it changing any time soon.

images are all of US layout. perhaps its something we could change, but ultimately its something every reseller does because if we waited for 100% accurate images before launching, we would be last to market every time instead of the market leaders.

A little bit of photoshop or google would solve all this moaning!

I found the UK version here

I am looking to possibly replace my razer tarantula with one of these.

I primarily use the keyboard for development rather than gaming these days so would I be better to get the stealth version due to the reduced "clicky" noise that the normal version will cause?

Is it possible to get a comparison between both keyboards for key "clickiness"

(Although it doesn't both me as I usually have headphones in I know that the clicky noise can bother some people especially as I will be using this as my main work keyboard)
