Where possible, I tend to enable something around 75 as a minimum and beyond to around 85 / 90. It does depend a lot on the game though; in rare instances I have used over 100.
I find this whole fov thing quite strange really. In tf2 i have it set to default which is 75 i think. But games like Unreal i would not be able to get away with. They must be at 90 or i would get motion sickness. In some games made in Unity the fov is set to 60 which really does not affect me at all. Sometimes i think it has something to do with the game engine.
I like to have it as high as possible without it looking fish eyed. Having the extra view can give you the view to stop you getting stabbed in the back
Not sure as not into MP but read about it but probably right its when peeps mess with Config files.
Added to sometimes the SP vs MP have different Max FOV is settings.
I am trying to remember the last big game that peeps were worried about getting banned for this and Steam said they would not ban users, may have been COD Ghosts.
