Average Forum Age

Well unfortunately you are your age, nothing you can do about that i'm afraid.

On a forum age is completely useless.

You are what you post, not who you are.

It is quite easy to construct an online identity for example. My username is Yewen not Tom so that is a start.

Although I am very similar in real life to on the forums, last person to get a joke so turn into the joke. :p

Im 17, but all in all age of the poster means absolutely nothing on an internet forum.

You are what you post, not your post count or your age afterall.
Thats the beauty of it.
One person can help another and no-one is affected by the age and race boundaries that exist in real life. It prevents you pre-judging people by their looks, traits or race, which we all subconsciously do in real life.

This is the only place were you'll see a qualified 35 year old IT manager being sucessfully helped by a 15 year old from the other side of the world. Its great.

Why I like forums, only place where I can sucessful mix with people with the same interests, or roughly to the level at which I take my hobby is on the internet.

Just not that many proper genuine geeks near me, lot of people who build their own computers but not many who you can have a genuinely interesting conversation with about anything technical or about architectures. Also, they are usually 100% PC obsessive and then don't like changing the subject to footie.

Love forums for this, and main reason I am still on OcUK after all this time. Why the only thing that can annoy me is when people discard something I have said purely because of my age, yet I may have had 5 years daily experience doing what they are asking about. Only thing that can get to me from the internet and is indeed a sign of my emotional maturity that something such as that can get to me, but afterall I am 17 although I may not post like it the majority of the time.

Stoop down to my age for a second and explain what you're on about there please?

He's saying that things will bother him but that's because of his age :)

Can I just get some of you guys opinion. Would you say my posts are typical "16 year old" posts? I always try and make good posts that aren't just spam. Feel free to be honest ;)
wow, never realised you were so young! tbh i'm a little suprised. i only know you from the isketch games (havn't seen too many of your posts i don't think), but in the games you act sensibly/intelligently, so i'd probably have guessed at early 20's in all honesty.

oh, and i'm 28.

As Nix said, because I am 17 I have a tendancy to take offence at things more than someone who is older may, I know this so generally shout an expletive at my monitor then continue along my way by hitting back on the mouse. :p

You can project yourself as much older than you are through written communication and would be very easy to fool people, same with how you look and to a degree your body language in conversations.

The one thing you can not fake, ever, is your emotional response to an event. Somewhat to do with the relative innoscence of childhood and my age meaning I am not completely past it just by sheer number of life experiences. Someone twice my age will have experienced twice as many situations, and have an emotional response to all of them and know how to react. I do not.

That is what I am trying to say, in basic lingo I have a childish side that is more likely to come out due to my age, although I mask it I hope very well in my posting style.

Well, i like to think that i am still a young person in an old body! I get on really well with all my great nieces and nephews and i am a big kid at heart!
