Average IT Support wage?

IT Support guys get between 13-24k in the South West.

Build Monkey - 13-15k
1st Line Helpdesk - 15-21k
2nd line Floorwalker - 17-25k
Security Admin - 18-25k
1st/2nd Line Field Engineer - 18-25k

I'd agree with that. Down 'ere in Devon our guys start on about 18-19k for the jobs in my dept for fresh out of uni/no exp. Depending on the team you go on it's either db support, server support or the team that supports the other 2 teams and everything else, i.e. desktops/laptops, some servers, apps, phones, printers, pdas as well as a lot of the systems design :P (I'm not bitter, honest).

For Devon + Cornwall I'd say our wages are pretty good, would struggle to find a job that pays similar that requires as little experiance. I'd class us as a medium to small company in the grand scheme of things, 1500-ish users I think

As someone else said get onto project work asap, loads of fun :)

im glad some 1 said the right figure!

im doing a course now, they told me (probabally false but) 35K min 25K

Not something like you see on TV where they spout "Train for a career in IT, you could be earning £35k a year" - yeah right, do their course, have no experience and still walk into a job earning more than the average experienced person earns!
