Average speed around F1 circuit

What would the average speed be around the Abu Dhabi circuit be?

Track length is 5.5km
Current track record is 1:40.241

We are trying to work out if it could be driven around in a Corsa in 2 minutes

I said not, housemate said it is

why dont you think it matters ? is a corsa track car the same as a 1L corsa ? in your eyes..

A corsa would need to average over 102mph to do it in 2 minutes...good luck

You'd need to average 103mph, not likely in a corsa. everybody knows vauxhalls explode over 100mph.

Arnt they going to average about 50mph? with the corners destroying them?..I dont think the straight is even long enough to get a Corsa near 120.

even bmw M5 couldnt in 2 mins. with corsa......LOL

edit: i remember old top gear esp.

on silverstone track, they used 3 cars to compare.

F1 was like 1 and half min
ford cougar was like 3 mins.
ford focus rally was like in 2 mins

The Aussie V8 supercars are doing 2:12 on a qually lap. That's a purpose built race saloon with a 600bhp V8 and aero. I doubt a standard Corsa VXR could beat 3 minutes.

We were still hammered when discussing this earlier.

Thinking about it now i reckon a corsa couldnt do it in 4 minutes! 50mph average would be hard

Well a Corsa would be starting the Abu Dhabi GP in front of Vettel this weekend atleast

Although I guess it would struggle with the 110% rule

Yes, it would struggle with getting inside 110% of the pole time. And it'd struggle even harder with the actual F1 rule, which is 107%!
