There is a wide spectrum of how much one can spend on watercooling their components. Some people opt to cool only their CPU while others choose to cool their GPU's, CPU's, Mobo chipsets, and even their RAM.

Anyone care to share how much they spent on their watercooling? Please also include whether you chose high end parts or not. Thanks.

Must be roughly £400 ~, bought the Swiftech kit a few years back and slowly updated. Still got the some of the waterblocks and 8800 GTX full water block.

At the moment I just cool the cpu.

£300 is a lot :O think im going to stick with my 7 fans in my case atm, and maybe get a H50 and put a push pull delta fans on there, a lot cheaper, and with two 4000RPM fans it'll cool amazingly, however my 6950'll be getting hot, so is watercooling really worth it? even with 7 case fans to help keep the air the 6950 uses cool??

What case do you use? haf x? 7 fans is more than enough. No one needs water cooling unless they have a really bad case or want to do a hefty overclock.

Why should'nt people watercool their build whether it be stock but saying that, standard CPU'S 3.0GHz + look at the temps standard GPU'S are reaching 80'c+ with stock heatsinks whether it be for the CPU or GPU and how noisey some of these fans get.

Its upto the person if he wants to or not, a custom loop was one of the best upgrades l made, my case is a FTO1 with x2 180mm fans at 900rpm , x1 120mm the case was quiet apart from the CPU cooled by a H50 x2 Vipers and they where not that loud, the GTX 470 even with a custom profile you could still here it. But overall my build was not that loud, but my 920 > 4.2GHz + 470 850:1700:200 were OC'd.

All together it cost me £300 which is not to bad, as the likes of the H70 is about £80, you can now by kits based on some of these for cooling your GPU £120 > 470 , CoolIT make them, so we will say about £180 for both. But the down side is you can't upgarde the GPU, so if you change your GPU say 470 you have to change the unit. The big advantage of building a custom loop you can upgrade them l went from 5870 water cooled to a 470 and it only cost me £70 for a new full cover block what a saving compared if l had to buy a new CoolIT H2o GPU Unit £120. It only cost me £300 to build mine with superior components as well and last but not least , l thought my Air cooled rig was quiet the only thing l hear now is my DVD-RW's working. :D

I beleive the coolit solution has changeable plates so it is quite good. However seems like they dont have many changeable plates atm!

Loads. Including case I spent around a grand, but that was customising my case as well. Without case I think it was like 4 or 500? Thats including custom mounts for RAD and pumps and resevoirs though, and I have spent another £500 since I got it on new full cover blocks for GPU's as I have replaced them.

System isnt silent though, still have a load of fans, but they are silent, can here the pumps (vibrations through the case) which is annoying but other than that, its just the PSU fan.....Koolance stopped doing there PSU that was high enough wattage for my needs before I bought it, otherwise that'd be watercooled too :(

At what point did I say people shouldn't watercool? I said no one needs it unless they have a bad case or want to take overclocking to the extreme.

Need and want are very different things. Need = the pc will not run without it or is hazardous to run. Want = want a quiet pc or lower temperatures.

You left a third deciding factor out a quiet PC, if you read my post l said its upto the person at the end of the day.

I could say "no one needs a top of the range GPU, unless they have a bad one, or want better graphics" Its upto the person at the end of the day, its his money, his decision.

Hi Ch3m, have you tried mounting your pumps on foam, my res-pump combo vibrates a little so l mounted mine on foam, stops the vibrations coming through the case. If you can still hear the fans even though they are quite quiet turn some of them off, as your custom loop is not that dependent on case cooling, as long as you have some air flow your ok.

He asked if he needed water cooling because his cpu might run too hot.

I have him a straight answer that answered his question rather than saying "well you could if you want it to be extra cool or extra quiet".

Stop making arguments where there is no argument to be had and get off your high horse.

Whoa there Neddy, why not have both extra cool and extra quiet, hit a nerve did l.

Me making arguments, Naaaaaaaaay lad.
