AVG or Zone Alarm Security Package

Hi everyone just want a quick poll on what would be the best security package to get finally getting rid of norton and cant choose between these 2 from what i can see they both have firewall anti virus and anti spyware so not sure which one is the best would love to see peoples opinions. Just want one that does not resource hog my machine!

I've used Zone Alarm Pro (firewall) before so I'd recommend the AVG suite. Are you limited to those two? I run NOD32 and Sunbelt Kerio firewall here.

not limited to any thing mate really just want rid of norton and would like a good security setup, heard that the 2 suites i mentioned were meant to be the best around

Rightio. The Kaspersky suite is meant to be good. AV and FW together. You don't necessarily need a combined suite of course.

before i got my router i used the free editions of zonealarm firewall and the free edition of the avg virus checker.

Never had a problem with either of them.

Yeah, you could get comodo firewall and AVG, AVAST or ANTIVIR and, basically, you would get the same (or so similar you wouldn't notice) protection for free. If you insist on paying I'd get NOD32 and comodo free.

Zone Alarm can be processor heavy, although not nearly as bad as Norton.

have always used ZA, can be a tad tempremental
how do you find comodo? features etc

Just get NOD32 and Zonealarm firewall, totally worth it dude.

I have gone for nod32 and comodo firewall that seems to be really good my proccess have gone from 42 down to 33 since getting rid of norton very impressed i must say!

Have a look at http://www.blackviper.com/ and http://www.theeldergeek.com/ to see if you can get rid of some more processes.

ive found that avg free edition is not very good at all along with norton antivirus and mcaffee. I have been to peoples homes running the various soloutions i just mentioned with the customer complaining of slow downs, popups, programs not responding the way you would expect etc, uninstalled there antivirus soloution after doing a scan of there system and it reporting nothing, then installed nod32 and run a scan again and voila it picks up on average between 3 and 13 viruses !!
So you can make your own minds up about whats good and whats not.

I've just given NOD32 a try. It didn't find anything (but then I don't surf potentially dangerous sites). It's very processor intensive whilst scanning, but completed the scan in under 11 minutes which is much quicker than AVG.

True. I never realised how fast NOD32 was at scanning until I used AOL Active Virus Shield on my laptop. A lot less files to scan but it took ages longer.

I rarely run a scan with NOD32. I'm convinced its a secure AV. My Sunbelt Kerio FW keeps me safe, I don't visit dodgy sites and I have anti-spyware protection.

For me NOD's greatest strength is its silentness. It doesn't bother me at all. Just gets on with the jobs. When I first bought NOD32 I had to check it was getting the updates, I was so unsure how it could be without it telling me about it, but then this was me coming off using Norton antivirus.
