AVOID THE M1 NORTH BOUND!!!!

I think it's getting more common, I can access the internet from my phone using 3g/edge/hsdpa/wifi.

More providers offer it for a flat monthly fee, its excellent for me :)

So with my K750i or my dads K800i could I somehow plug it into my computer and connect to the tinternet?

For the first time in my life i was down Kent/London way last week..

drove up from Longfield in kent on wednesday. I was lucky due to the time i left, i missed the thick of it, but in my few days down there, i saw more traffic then ive ever seen in my life.

Now ive been told im back down there until next thursday, which is going to be hell having to drive back up on thursday night. when EVERYONE is going home for the weekend :(

"M1 Northbound" is a little vague :P Also there are roadworks between junctions 6 and 10 anyway, which wont help the Friday rush hour traffic :)

3 (Three network) do a mobile broadband thing that plugs into your laptop via USB with a monthly cost. Been discussed sometimes in the Mobile phone section. Decent if your out and about all the time.

So you sit for a whole 25 mins and get all panicy?

You want to try driving in the SE19 area during rush hour!

My parents came and picked me up from Uni ~6pm. J21 -> J25/26, and it was a little busy. Southbound it was empty though.

GPRS is 56k speeds, not very impressive. However there are better options available if you can afford a monthly contract.

You don't need a contract, you can use hsdpa on p&g.

Only if the phone can act as a modem. Otherwise you can get a hsdpa card.

With tmobile it's £1 per day max spend which is 40MB. You can also buy a 200MB 3day pass for £2.50.

First article on a search states:

"The service will operate through T-Mobile's Web'n'Walk data tariff, at a £17 per month "introductory" rate. The carrier will also provide new customers with a free HSDPA-compatible data card if they're willing to commit to an 18- or 24-month contract. There are likely to be limits on what you can do with it."

I'm on a HTC Kaiser with T-Mobile. You can use the phone with a laptop as a modem via bluetooth or usb but there is no need to most of the time cause it has a slide out keyboard and can do most things I'd need my laptop for :)

I bought one of these dealies
b158136.jpg

It will allow me to surf on the handset,

I can bluetooth/cable it to my laptop and surf in full,

I use web n walk, it costs £32.50 a month and it's "unlimited" with a 1 gig cap, if you see what I mean.

Those usb dongle things are a rip, as you can use your existing phone contract.

a lot of Nokia phones also act as mondems, make sure they have 3g though...

3G is the faster option, most networks now support 3G on their pay and go SIM's. I know T-Mobile and o2 do.
