AVOID THE M1 NORTH BOUND!!!!

I remember being stuck last July. The flash flood day when people spent the night on the M5 near Gloucester. I was on the A34 near Newbury, and spend 7 hours sat on a sliproad.

It was rubbish. :(

We have 3g cards for work, thew newest one connects at 4.5mbs, obviously that isn't download speed but still, its very very quick. I used it when I didn't have BB for a bit.

I think I'll get me an internet phone or similar and bore you all stiff with my tales of trucking woes.

Friday night, M25 / M1 Junction, 5PM and you were in a queue.

What were you expecting? free flowing traffic?

My job would bring you to tears. ;)

Likewise, doing ~80k a year you get to treat traffic jams as routine, but agreed they are a pain (although the A14 is the worst imo)

IIRC they're knocking down a bridge on the M1 around junction 9 (ish) this weekend, so a good idea to keep well away.

Worst traffic jam I've experienced was on the M4 Westbound just after Membury Services... I was about to take the next junction off into Swindon, but ended up spending 4½ hours without moving an inch.

What amde it worse is that I'd just had to wait an hour for the RAC to come and fix my exhaust pipe... drove about a mile before I got stuck in the jam.

There's definitely better ways to spend your Sunday afternoon.

the wors thing about it for me was that it meant by the time I got here my son was asleep :( I had been looking forward to seeing his reaction to seeing me ALL week.

Instead the first time he saw me was when he woke up in the middle of the night in partial darkness. he didn't even recognise me and he started crying :( it was really upsetting :( he just kept gripping on to his mum and looking away from me :( was totally gutted.

I blame work cause I had a half day booked and at half 11 they changed their mind!

worst jam i got stuck in was also on the M4 i think (near bridgewater (unfortunatley)), 2 HGV's collided and closed the M4 for 4 hours lol, i was on my way to Newquay to start my holiday hehe.

Did you have to wait 4 hours in it?
