Used to be a tech guy but asking one of the most easiest questions in the book. ;) nice start.

Rules are there for a reason on a network, if you did this with my network I would basically remove your access and sack you for doing so.

Ask the right way and if they don't do it just use IE. What is the problem?
 
It's likely something along the lines of SCCM, hard to circumvent for long unless you have local admin rights and eventually someone will twig or it'll be highlighted in one of the many reports that the SCCM admin can access.

Expect them to question why you ignored IT standard and have good reasons ready, or you could be looking at disciplinary action. However most people are reasonable and if you can justify it then they'd most likely look to help you, but you should contact IT first before doing any of this.

SCCM can also find what programs you use, rather than scanning for available programs so that'd possibly show up portable versions quicker.

I know I have a reports which shows me "junk software" which is anything I know I don't want on my desktops.

Yet another opinionated but clearly clueless user.

You do know that you could face the sack and potentially criminal charges for mucking about with your employers PCs? It may sound harmless to you, but I'd still suggest asking IT about having opera etc installed for you and being open and honest about it.
 
I know the risks, i know the implications. People should just respond to the original question instead of giving their opinion.

I thought piston heads was bad at times !

So if someone want's to know how to pirate DVD's does that mean people have to tell them on a forum?

So if someone want's to know how to rob a bank and NOT get caught do they have to tell them.

Grow up! You could have Googled it!
