I am in need of 2 new tyres for the front of my car, at the minute i have a couple of the ZV3's on the back but on the front i have 2 kwik fit special promo no brand made of plastic tyres that have been on for 4 months. (a regrettable not much available cash purchase)

I am sick of the front tyres, they are basically deadly when there is a hint of moisture so i thought about getting a couple of the ZV3 to match up whats already on the back.

I can get them for £105 fitted, balanced etc at my local tyre place, is this a fairly good deal or should i be looking at something else.

I dont drive fast, its an astra diesel estate with about 7hp, only really used for getting to work and back but i would like to get there and back safely from now on.

I've got a pair of Avon ZZ3's on the back of my 540, I wouldn't have chosen them but the previous owner put them of, they seem ok actually, they are down to 3mm now but they grip pretty well actually. They are quite soft, I think they would wear fast from new. I don't think they are worth £105 though, you can buy better for that sort of money, Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas can be had for £108 each, ...I'm having 4 new tyres latter this week, getting a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetrics, for £135 each for my fronts fitted and balanced and £155 each for my rears.

Edit: Oh I got caught not reading your post properly then didn't I, I saw Astra and thought, those are some expensive tyres for an Astra, then I realised you mean £105 for the pair, not each, in which case they are probably fine although what I said about them being pretty soft will still hold true.

Fairly soft compound tyre that performed quite well on my mk1 Focus. A good choice of tyre if you preference is slightly towards performance over longevity. If you want tyres to last 15k+ miles then look elsehwere.

I had ZV3s on my old Corolla and they were pretty decent but as everyone says, they are quite soft. I was doing low milage so it wasn't a big issue but if you do a long commuter run it might be worth baring in mind.

Lol, without the tyre sizes i am sure my post is useless....185/65 R15.

yes that price was for the pair fitted, balanced etc.

As i said i have already got them on the back, been on for about 18-20 months and probably 32,000 miles (420ish miles per week) and the chap in the tyre place commented what good condition they were in!

Obviously on the front they wear a hell of a lot quicker so i was hoping the zv3 may prove to be just as good on the front as they have been on the back.

Had them on the front of my Mondeo, very soft tyres but for the price, very good grip IMO.

I had two on the volvo. One blew out. At £105 for the avon compared with £70 for the Khumo i went for the Khumo.

I think they are very overpriced.

I had a set of four on an astra a few years ago. They wear quickly but don't have the grip to match the wear rate. They're ok in the wet though. I'd have them over P6000s but thats about the only thing that can be said for them.

I have ZZ3s all round on the Cooper S. Seem to be pretty good all round :)

(Not sure if they're a comparison to the ZV3)
