Any non-stock intel cooler recommendations, I'm considering a Blue Orb II but not sure if it will fit, this board looks kinda cluttered.

Tuniq Tower if you can find one.

Scythe Infinity

Titan Vanessa.

Slooooow AWD9-MAX

My system seems really slooooow.
Not got loads on it, Pshop, Corel Draw, Office suite, NAV, Directory Opus, Macromedia Suite, Swish Max.
Takes around 3.5 - 4 minutes to fully load.
Can't get me ed around setting/Oc'ing the CPU. All I seem to achieve is an increase of FSB.
This image and text below it shows my settings at http://www.lindalconstruction.co.uk/cpuz.htm
Can someone please hand hold me in setting it up in the BIOS or wherever, I'd be very grateful.

Go into Advavced bios features

CPU Feature

Disable
C1E Function
EIST Function

Save and reboot, now true cpu speed`s will show in cpuz :)

As for clocking put your FSB up bit by bit, then put a little more volt`s on your cpu core.

EDIT:What bios version are you running, look`s like 11, you do know there is a newer bios out.

Hi Folks,
Thanks for the info... things are looking much better now!!
Seems System was underclocked somehow... Der... probably summit I'd inadvertantly done.

Also, guess what???? Dem dare high pitched squeeks n whistles have stopped, now it's not under clocked... cool!!

Plz have a look at the new settings, are these ok?
The CPU voltage is at 1.4
Am I going to fry anything with my current settings?
http://www.lindalconstruction.co.uk/cpuz.htm

Finally, the boot up speed hasn't increased, still takes 3 - 4 mins to boot. Is this a normal boot time?

Many thanks.

Have you tryed the cpu v under 1.4v? what tems are you getting .
Have you updated your bios?

Hi,
Yes I have tried it at 1.38 it seems ok, should I reduce it to that?

BIOS:
The Abit Flash Utility reports I have v11 and when I go to update it says I already have the latest version.
Have downloaded th zip file, but am rather anxious about getting me hands dirty, as I'm bound to stuff it up, as u have to clear cmos etc.

Download a program called ORTHOS and use this to stress your overclock to see it it will work at a lower volts on the cpu.

v12 is the new bios on their site, what you could do is download the new bios and save it to desktop, then use the Abit Flash Utility to update from file, it`s really easy to do even i can do it :D

Ooooh er misses,
Updated BIOS, thank gawd that's over with!
Thanks for the info, worked a treat!!

Will do stress test later.

Me last issue, and tell me if I should post elsewhere, but I thought I set my boot drive to SATA 1.
I have the setting to enhanced mode, but it reports my boot drive is on channel 3. Does it matter with SATA drives which cahnnel they are on.

I have 2 SATA's and one IDE with CD Rom attached.

This is how it looks in BIOS (1&2 being SATA drives)

1. Channel 3 WDC 250 (O/S)
2. Channel 1 WDC 250 (Data)
3. Channel 4 WDC 320 (Backups)

Does it matter which channel my boot drive is on?

Thanks

nope it doesnt matter which channel your boot drives on.. as long as in your HDD boot list its first itll be fine.

as far as your speaker issue.. have you had the new ones yet? and you not have any headphones you can use? not even from an old walkman?

Cheers

Hi Clone,

Just seen your post regarding the Corsair XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5, looking really good hope you get prime stable at 4Ghz. Anyway thought I would post here seen as my mobo choice at the moment is looking to be the Abit AW9D-MAX.

Would like to ask what Week your X6800 is? I've just bought a week 31 & hoping to have a similar setup, not sure on Ram though tempted to go for the OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8000 Dual Channel XTC Platinum Series EL-DDR2.

The Abit AW9D-MAX is a very good choice and just needs a better bios as i had the 11bios, couldnt clock past 3.5ghz, installed the 12 (3.8ghz) and the board was more stable but now im running the beta 13 i can post at 4ghz.

Ive never been a fan of ABIT but this has changed my mind :D

Not sure what week my cpu is,here are the stepping code`s.

6800 SL955 MALAY
2.93GHZ/4M/1866/85B
L623A464

On the ABIT forums there is some talk of people having trouble with OCZ ram, all i can say is make sure it will run ok.

Aye, looks like Abit on there way back pity the design is poo i.e No Xi Fi Soundcard with Crossfire but I will never ever use Crossfire or Sli, prefer to use the best single GPU I can afford. Current Ram I'm looking at is:-

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-8000 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-8000PHU2-2GBHZ) (MY-010-GS) found this for £223 in the states! why are UK prices stupid! £130 more! I hate this country

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8000 Dual Channel XTC Platinum Series EL-DDR2 (OCZ2P10002G-K) (MY-066-OC) probally need revision 2 ?

Yeh that`s what i was reading about.

Hi there,

Clone, or anybody, can I ask a favour?

Could you describe step by step how you updated the BIOS, its one area I consistantly have problems with lol and I don't fancy frying my mobo

Thanks in advance Matt
