I am looking to upgrade this year and waiting for the Ryzen 9, I was going to buy some gear now as rather itching to do an upgrade...

Is there any current Motherboards which are going to be future proof and run perfectly with the Ryzen 9 when it arrives ?

I am thinking of getting an AM4 mobo & possibly a Ryzen 5 just to do me until the Ryzen 9 comes out and then pop that straight in ( if possible )

Having not done an upgrade in around 4-5 years , I am currently using an I7 - 4790 and not too hot on all the new Ryzen gear.

Thanks for any help / thoughts

Personally I’d just stick it out to Ryzen 3xxx is out and upgrade then.

You’re current system is ok and you’d be better getting a x570 board.

Ryzen 5 would still give you a nice threads bump awhile the new ones arrive...

Have you got a budget? I think any AM4 X470 board over 150£ will be perfect.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £267.89 (includes shipping: £9.90)

If you've got the i7 , and overclocked to 4.4/7ghz no point in ryzen 2600x.

Personally just wait till ryzen 3*** comes on - for them to match intel or beat perfectly only need to hit one of 3 things really. Better IPC, better IMC or faster clock speed. Have a feeling they'll do a bit of all three . If they do that they'll do well in the epsorts market at 1080p gaming .

Or just double your cores with i7 9700k and overclock all cores to 5ghz.
8 cores Vs 4 ( forget thread counts as intel only adds 15% max with hyperthreading) .
June is shaping to be a nice hardware race. Should see the X570 boards ;)
More VRM then what to do with them :)

Yeah I just have a lovely new case sitting here, new PSU, Watercooling Kit plus other various small parts all doing nothing.
I was going to upgrade now but a friend told me to wait for the new Ryzen 9, I was just evaluating if I could do a minor build then upgrade again.
pity to sit here looking at all the gear and not being able to build it :(
I think I will just wait and get the Mobo / CPU & new memory when it all becomes available @ Ryzen 9 arrival
I currently have the 4790K 4ghz overclocked to 4.5ghz ( from overclockers ) runs perfect but really just can't wait to upgrade

Ryzen 9 rumoured to be 16c/32t which is double what we have now from the Ryzen 7 chips. Its probably best to wait for a x570 board as its likely only they will be able to handle it.
