Hi all :)

I'm in the process of getting a new rig together and have found that my new mobo (asus sabretooth z77) has no-where for my SB Fatality to go (PCI).

I have been looking at the new Asus ROG card but can't find a lot about it, anyone use it?

Then I got an e-mail from Creative saying a new card will be revealed on 30th may called " Axxtra-terrestrial ".

Anyone know owt about it?

hope it uses usb or optical. I'm wanting to change to a g1 sniper board for tri-fire meaning no room for my xonar ST. Hope the onboard creative is good because if not i'm going to have to go usb dac/soundcard for gaming/music.

Probably rammed full of gimmicks and look stupid, just like the Asus ROG thing.

Here's their teaser pic they've slapped around the net.

That's the Pic they used in the e-mail the sent, followed by;

"Take a shot at guessing what the next generation of Sound Blaster product is. The most accurate and most creative answers will be the first to axx-perience the new Sound Blaster"

TBH I'm not bothered what my next sound card looks like as long as it sounds great and the drivers work :).

Any suggestions for a good card welcomed, I've only ever had Creative.

The Phoebus ROG looks very good, but it's damn expensive. I suppose it depends what's connected to it, as to whether or not it is worth considering.

The Essence is a great card, but it is stereo, so no use for any analogue 5.1 speakers, etc.

Thanks again :)

Pci isn't an option as my new board only has Pcie. Will wait and see what Creative through up at the end of the month then see if any reviews surface for the ROG.

Which do you recoomend Mrk?
There are a few off um.

I've only had Creative in various incarnations over the years, I use the comp for games, movies and mess around with my keyboard and cakewalk 6.

Also it must be PCIe :)

Well I've owned the D2X for over a year then bought the Essence STX which I still using and can't recommend it enough!

I am a gamer as well as music and movie fan and this card pumps out amazing sound in everything.

I use analogue out to my stereo amplifier by the way.

I can't rate the ASUS Essence STX high enough, especially with the unified drivers.
Superb quality, easy to use, headphones are breeze to drive, removable opamps if you want to play around.

Cheers Rosi :)

Had a quick look, does it not support 7.1 setups?

I saw it had Virtual 7.1.

Thanks for advice Mrk :) Sounds like what I'm after and way cheaper than the rog.

Do you not have a 7.1 setup? Just wondering why questioned that the Essence does not support 7.1, then decide on an Essence.

If you are just using stereo, whether it be speakers or headphones, then the Essence is superb, and certainly a better buy than the Phoebus.

Marsman, you are correct, I do have 7.1 setup :)

The card I thought he ment was th DX2 (should have took more notice of the "replaced it with bit" ) :(

I also use a set of Roccatt Kave headphones for those late night gaming sessions.
