Ayrton Senna

Wish they would stop quoting Ayrton about Bruno, his career was put to a halt because of his uncle's early demise, he's good but a lot of his potential has been lost, I guess only time will tell how much of his obvious raw talent remains..

I think I remember that race. I was 8 then but I'm pretty sure I was watching at the time. I wouldn't have known him like many older people have but the internet and YouTube is great tutor for these things.

You can see how easy it is to pass on crashing those cars. Sat so forward with your head fully exposed, rattling down the gearbox with your hand off the wheel trying to fight the G as you trail brake into a corner and get your other hand back on the wheel. Looking at todays cars it's a wonder they see anything, but they have survived some epic moments when it's gone wrong.

RIP Ayrton - an epic story of what history tells me an epic driver.

R.I.P the greatest to have lived imo. Never really liked him due to being a williams fan when younger but I still love reading about stuff I was too young to remember nowadays and watching the vids, a proper racer, shame we don't get to see anywhere near as much action as he provided anymore.

Wow that video proves if anything that camera technology can be 'too good' sometimes. You don't get anything like that kind of shake or sense of speed anymore.

Sod HD, bring back the old equipment from 20 years ago. :D

they should, bring back the turbos good times willl be had

F1 is boring now with a fixation to slow it down with new rules every year. If they really want to slow it doen then why doesn't Bernie Ecc introduce fluff to wrap around the rear axle as that slowed down my Scalextric no end when I was a bairn.
LOL

Bring back the banked curves and the cross-over track as well. That'd make it a bit more interesting.

^ ^ That is incredible, when you look at how much work he had to do back then (as did all the drivers) to keep the car on the black stuff you realise how comparitively easy the drivers of today have it.

One can only hope that the racing gets as good as it used to be back then :)

Without a doubt my favorite onboard video of Ayrton is his qualifying lap at Monaco 1990

Fantastic!!!

What is amazing is that he was actually held up by a slower car for a few corners during that pole position lap.

He was unquestionably the pole meister and for me, the best driver I've ever seen in the wet.

In race trim though, I would still pick M.Schumacher over him. MS is the master when it comes to putting together big chamionship points totals.

I'm amazed that he would've been 50 years old now. If we assume that he would've quit racing at around 40, his last year wouldve been 2000. Had he lived, he and MS would've had some ding-dong battles for 6 or so years. Even in 1994, we were beginning to see a pattern of MS vs Senna emerging. In Senna's last race, MS was hounding Senna from behind, so the battle had already begun.
