That’s fine if they are failing because you have pushed them too far but by accounts, both failures today were out of the blue. Teams know when they are pushing their luck. Last year one of the curbs was killing tyres and the teams knew very early it was happening and told the drivers to take care.

First part is serious and Hamilton said it. Not me.

2nd part is half serious. You only got to look at all the dnf and crashes max has had in the past few years and it's mostly been his fault. Today it's the tyre for /, although as I said earlier, he was off of the racing line before it happened. So we'll need to see if he ran over something or not

Unfortunately you can be 95% sure of tyre life, but across 20 races and 20 cars, sometimes you will get it wrong.

I think people need to accept that.

If teams want to be close to 100% sure they should use their practice sessions. Even then I doubt you can be completely sure.
