I know this hasn't been out long but i'm just looking for opinions on this AV receiver as it looks pretty much spot on for what I want. Let me know...

Are you after HDMI? The 340R is £269, but you can get a 540R V2 for only £199. The 540R V2 has no HDMI switching (V3 does though!), but it sounds a fair whack bigger than the 340R!

I've got a 640R and love it. The 540R and 640R are touted as being the best AVR's if using the unit for stereo music too, on par with the Arcam A350 according to the peeps on AVF

I'm tempted to pair it with an 840A though! But thats £749 I could be spending on other more important things, like getting a nice TV finally!

Well I was wanting a Digital I/O through HDMI as I can run my PC in through DVI->HDMI and everything out into my monitor through HDMI. I'll have a look into the 540R though...

Could always get the V3 540R for £349, only £80 more than a 340R, for an extra two channels rated at 30wpc more each, and is capable of hitting those ratings with all channels driven.

I don't know a great deal about the 340R, but I do know that the 540 and 640R's push well above their rated stats :)

Just checked out prices and looks like it might be a better option to get a 540R and just run all I/O analogue, (sound can be digital though) and spend the extra on speakers. Cheers for the help guys. Will keep you posted with any updates...

Probably best to mention that the CA AVR's only pass through video through HDMI anyway, no audio at all, so its only of use for switching.
You'll need to run a toslink or something anyway to get sound into the receiver.

If I were looking for a cheap receiver, I'd definitely take the 540R V2 as its only £199! If you need HDMI, then the V3 is £349. I believe the V3 also gains Incognito Type II and advanced bass management settings too, which may be of relevance to you. But, to be honest, the V2 is a steal, and only for 1/3 of the cost of my 640R!
