I figured clearance items perfectly working items just OCUK want rid of them but what are b grade items (sorry if there's a sticky on this xD) are they broken in some way or refurbs or what?

B grade would tend to suggest a minor defect, but nothing that would effect performance.
Clearance tend to be old products that are fine, just outdated , not in massive demand and still in stock.

Me and me mate bought two EVGA 8800 GTX KO ACS3 graphic cards off there today for £325 each and there still £422 on the main site...

Why would they be in the clearance section if there still in the main GFX card section?

If memory serves B Grade means items that have been sold but then returned for whatever reason (and therefore cannot be sold as new) so may be missing manuals, software or the box may be tatty etc but will be working fully.

Clearance is for items that haven't been sold but aren't in 'as new' condition generally (boxes getting tatty in warehouse/driver disks gone missing etc) or as mentioned just older stock that needs cleared.

In both cases the product should be functionally working 100% but might be missing some minor parts that should be in the full retail package and given a shorter warranty. :)

Cool, thanks for clearing that up ;) Hopefully stuff will still be there by monday :P

I was going to get a e2160 but then saw a e6300 on clearance for the same price! cant complain.

i bet your cards were returned due to that beeping problem you reported in the graphics thread. if so you got a good deal since the beep issue is normal :D

B-grade items basically means that you may be missing 'extras' like manuals, disks, cables and potentially there could be minor cosmetic defects.

Personally I'd steer clear of certain B-grade items such as motherboards, as it would pretty annoying if cables etc are missing. Also it's quite possible they were returned due to compatibility issues (e.g. only works well with certain types of RAM).

Whereas on the other hand I reckon there are sometimes B-grade bargains to be had involving items without many accessories to go missing.

I buoght an Enermax Noisetaker 600w from the B-Grade section for £40 it was in the box, but if I remember correctly, that was all that was in the box. I just downloaded the manual from the Enermax website. It cost £70 on the main page, so I've saved a boatload, and it's simply the best PSU i've ever owned.

B-Grade gear is usual just manufacturer replacements for faulty bits sent off from OcUK.

Treat all the stuff in clearance and B-Grade as OEM without anything but the product and you shouldnt be dissapointed.

Items like hard drives are always worth picking up as they usually work or they don't.

Most of the b grade stuff is motherboards.

Remember guys the 7 day warranty advertised by OcUK *cannot* override your statutory rights as described in the Sale of Goods Act and the Distance Selling Act.

Edit: looks like the 7 day thing has been removed since I last looked. I guess because it had no legal standing.
