Hi all. Im new to most of this. I've had some advice on a new build but when I'm looking around the Overclockers site, I came across 'b grade' items. I found a cpu that i would buy but what does b grade mean & is it worth getting?
Thanks for reading my life story ha ha

B -Grade means..

Below is the original description for this product, any reference to warranty is to be ignored. Warranty for this item is 90 days as with all B Grade items.

B Grade items may have been used, have damaged packaging, missing accessories or a combination of these (Motherboards may be missing I/O shields).

Some items may have scuff marks or slight scratches but should otherwise be an operable product.

Is it worth it depends. How much are you going to pay out and only get a 90 day warranty. Why is it B grade, in this case a CPU. Has been been returned as a poor clocker?

I'm not sure if you could contact the shop and ask why it is B grade.

You can call and ask for details about why it is b grade. You may not get any info, but it is worth a try.

Only you can decide if it is worth getting but from a pricing perspective, make sure it is discounted sufficiently to take into account the above. As a rule of thumb, it should be priced no closer to the retail price than the second hand price.
B-grade items can often be sat there for months without the pricing being updated and in some cases priced higher than the current retail price.

I bought b grade 7700k works fine but think it was a poor clocker. It appeared to have been delidded. I can get 4.8 ghz out of it quite easily and 4.9 around 1.35v at a push. Currently run it at 4.8 as the extra 100hz probably not worth it. It cost me 240 and I sold 7600k for 160 in these crazy times so not bad upgrade.

It came with no packaging in a small box with some foam so not as exciting as new shiny. But the rrp on the 7700k is insane
