The gen is a two sroke engine so am assume it should be economical and quite? (pumps out 91db - dont know how loud that is)
Opposite i think. If it was four stroke it would be economical and quiet, two strokes are generally uneconomical and loud. Think motorcross bike.

According to that its as loud as a kitchen blender at 1m.

I used to work for FG Wilsons (owned by Cat)

the smallest sets used to be lister powered, but they have been change to kubota sets k8-1s is the smallest, thats 8kva and single phase.

To connect to the power grid, the minimum size of set was 80kva iirc, this involved adding a 4001E panel to our set, and they had to be synchronized with the mains. We had 8 x 1440KVA sets and got a discount on the electric bill. on a side note, the 1440kva sets made 1800bhp @ 800rpm for 60hz and 2000bhp @ 500rpm for 50hz.

the kubota sets were @ 84db and if put in a SAA enclosure, as low as 64db

Man, dont take this the wrong way but i dont have a clue about what you are trying to explain. I lost it after the first two lines....I know nothing about gens. :o

I think you would need to ring the airline in advance to check if they will allow you to check that in to the hold. If you just check it in then its bound to be stopped when it goes through the baggage scanners... especially if its been used already and has any traces of fuel in it.

Yeah i plan on doing that. The whole thing is still shrinked wrapped and still in the box. :)

First post in over a week.....

Hate to burst your bubble, but it will NOT be allowed on an airplane after it's been used.

Flammable liquids are PROHIBITED in cargo (checked baggage) and automotive items (ie: engines) are prohibited in the cabin.

Once you put fuel and/or oil in it, the only way it's going to be able to get anywhere off your island is on a boat. It CANNOT go on an airplane, even a strictly cargo plane.

It hasnt been used - Still shrinked wrapped. No fuels or Oil put inside yet. So fingers cross it will be allowed on . :)
