I need to get a few lengths of wood (38mm x 89mm x 2400mm). Problem is that they wont fit in my car as is. Will B&Q cut them in half for me? I know they do for trade point members, but I'm a mere peasant so am not sure.

I could just take a saw and do it in the car park, but I need a few lengths so it'll be a bit of a ball ache.

Mine does it too.

They'll even do it with a handsaw if it doesn't go in the machine. The machine just does boards I think, length they use the handsaw as said.

Go and pick out your timber yourself. Make sure it's not bent, twisted or full of knots.

If you order it. No one will care.and pick the first ones they come too.

It depends on the store.

The larger stores with cutting services will, the smaller ones will not - but will give you a saw and allow you to cut it yourself in the carpark.

A number of Homebase stores do it as well....well technically Bunnings now after the buy out.

Depending on facilities available, peasants are served, just as well as regular people... But then those of us above the riff-raff don't go to peasanty places like B&Q in the first place!!
"Ai've got a Porsche... Mar har har har har!!" :p

They do, however, they don't.

That's my experience...Usually the following excuses;

"We are not supposed to"
"Only to cut it to size for your car"
"We haven't got the right saw for that"

ours does.

ive spent over 30 mins waiting in line because some lazy builder cant be bothered to cut up the pieces to some intricate design needing about 50 cuts.

Go all the time in my Porsche, you'd be amazed at what I can fit in it :D.

Thing is though, the machine in B&Q is bloody accurate so you can hardly blame the builder.

B&Q told me they no longer cut anything smaller than 200mm (I think) due to health and safety, I think some numpty hurt himself with a smaller piece of wood so now it's basicly sheets or nothing.

Or was I lied to at the Derby B&Q ?

Funny thing with B&Q. If you're buying any wood from them, always look at the longer lengths. Its often much much cheaper to buy a longer length (2400mm) and have it cut in half for free, than it is to buy two of the shorter lengths.
