B&W RAW shots in CS2

Ok, what am I missing here.

I shot some black and white RAW shots today and on my cameras screen they are in black and white but when I open them in Photoshop CS2 they are in colour! :confused:

RAW shots are simply all the data captured by the Camera's sensor dumped onto the memory card with no processing done by the camera.

Were you shooting in RAW only or RAW+JPEG? If it's the latter, you will probably find that you have a B&W JPEG and a colour RAW.

On another note, you will get punchier B&W shots if you convert them from colour using Photoshop channel mixer rather than your camera.

There is an action in the sample actions menu in most PS versions, called convert to grayscale.
Use it, its the best method.

Ah, ok. So all parameters such as B&W etc make no difference if you are shooting it RAW. Got it.
