Sorry for the noob question. I have a gigabyte Ud5 motherboard if I swap this for the same board but b3 revision would I need to re-install operating system?
Pretty much guaranteed if you're switching from Asus to MSI you're gonna have to reinstall.
No not really, I would think you will be very unlucky to have problems switching between boards based on the same chipset. Although as others have stated a clean install can be a good idea.
I replaced a P8P67 Pro rev 2 with the same board but the B3 rev and although everything worked fine I was forced to activate window os again. Replacing the board was considered as a major hardware change, no wonder people download activated copies..although not my style
