Recently purchased the motherboard but as i lookedat it noticed damage to a capacitor and unsure if should return

Surely better to get it sorted now than when have fully built system in place as much more annoying then if you havent got a backup pc.

If you bought it new return it. Don't even risk it with a new mobo especially at the prices they are at the moment.

As mentioned, if brand new then return it.

It could work fine now but could be a point of failure down the line and if out of warranty you would be out of pocket by paying for a repair or a new board.
