Baby on the way - Window tints?

Get properly fitted OEM sunblinds if you can. They will fit perfectly. They can be removed in winter when it's darker and you can have the window down whilst keeping the sunblinds up if needs be. You can't do any of that with tints really.

Maybe it's just the shape of the civic but with the seat clipped into an isofix base and the little hood up on the car seat the sun never got into our little ones eyes/face

With most cars already having some sort of tint on the rear I'd probably go for shades as the fiesta has particularly dark rears and you still get a failed bit of sun coming in, though again just putting the hood up prevented an issue - at least with the first seat

I went with Limo Tints, great for when the baby's a baby and you want it dark as possible, but when you flip the car seat round they sit up and they want to see out where their going on dark days or night visibility was limited which meant they stopped looking out the window and cried through boredom instead. Being able to see out the window is a great way of falling to sleep as well which is of course useful on car journeys. 2nd car we went for removal blinds, then you can pick.

I got fairly dark uv protection window tints when we had our baby. They are so good that I'd always do the same so any car I ever own now. They really do negate the need for any crappy blinds in my experience, and also generally keep the car temperature so much more stable in the summer when you leave it parked.

One of those things for me that I will mentally add to the cost of any vehicle at time of purchase, and take the car almost straight there before we really use it.

I don't have kids but would echo this, got them in my Mondeo and the amount of heat they kept out in the summer was easily noticable, and they had a claimed uv filter of something like 98%.
