well my computer has started crahing again. thougt i had soved it llast week when i reseated the ram. but nope. it never crashes in games but if i am browsing the internet, have itunes, msn open anything like that it locks up. the display still works but wont change and i can move the mouse arond but if i click on anything i loose that too. the keyboard wont work and everything is bodged. i have to turn it off at the front. btw is it safer to hold down the power button or press the reset button? thanks

Sounds to me like a motherboard/ram issue, but it's hard to be sure. I would suggest getting hold of some spare bits, and replacing each thing one at a time, in this order: gfx card, ram, cpu, motherboard (just in terms of ease of access).
Could be related to overheating, have you checked your cpu temps?

Are you running Vista? Are you finding that you can move windows around but they are otherwise frozen? D'you sometimes get a "not responding" message in the title bar of each open window and they sometimes take on a white sheen? The only way to reboot windows is to press the reset button?
If this sounds like your problem then its quite common and I've got it too and it usually happens at least once every couple of days. Didn't have the issue when I was running XP before and I've not been able to solve the issue due to its randomness. I've got W7 on order and I'm hoping that the problem will go when I make the switch.

well acturaly the psu is the modular version. i did just find 45 instances of spyware wich im hopeing was causing it. and no i cant move the windows. obviously i dont want to have to buy new parts and i realy cant afford it as i spent all my money on this compute about a month ago. the cpu tems have never exceded 35 and the gfx card never over 70
