I built a PC at the start of this year and posted a lot asking for advice which was all really helpful so thanks to everyone who helped out :)

That PC has since been sold and Im looking to build a new high end rig ready for my Games Design course at Uni. Got a budget of £800-£1000 and this is what I quickly put together this morning:

-Corsair PC Starter Bundle 1000c - 600TM Case / TX 650W V2 PSU / H60 CPU Cooler (Cooler Half Price) £208.16
-Gainward GeForce GTX 560Ti "Phantom" 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £199.99
-Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM with FREE TrackMania 2 Canyon PC Game £161.99
-Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £144.98
-Samsung SH-B123L/BSBP 12x BluRay ROM / 16x DVD±RW Lightscribe SATA-II Optical Drive - Black (OEM) £49.99
-Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ) £41.99
-Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) £25.99

Total: £849.60

Looks good. IIRC the Gene-Z is m-atx. Which is fine, but you have the space for a full atx board.

I don't like Samsung optical drives. Had too many problems with them. For the GPU, I'm sure you've weighted the pros and cons, I would get a 6950 2GB, but that's me.

Im gonna be doing the art and design side of things. Level design, Character modelling, animations etc.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Didnt realise that board was m-ATX.

Nothing wrong with the Gene Z. I've been using one for a couple of months now and it's been a very solid board :)

I chose it because I wanted to experience the RoG bios and it was worth it

Gonna go i7 and also get an ATX mobo. Spoke to a tutor at uni today and he recommended get the best I could ready for the modelling side of things.
