Back folding but slightly confused

After a break to get the system watercooled, a busted psu and other time constraints i am back!

Still with the Q6600 and 8800gt.

Q6600 now up an running @ 3.37ghz (more to come hopefully when i have time) and 8800gt overclocked as well.

Installed the cpu client and all appears ok there. New Win SMP client seems a bit strange. 6.22beta one i mean.

It only appears when both one single smp and one single gpu client are running that the cpu client is only fully stretching one core?? I thought they used to do 100% of 2 cores??

Is there anything else i have missed whilst i've been non-folding (apart from still being hopefully 2nd to a million points before we all killed those pesky pirates!)

EDIT - defo something not right with the cpu client !

Have you included the -smp flag? It's required for the 6.22 client to pull down SMP WUs. Without it you'll just get normal work units.

You're still 2nd, though Yeggstry and I are closing fast :p

Have you included the -smp flag?

not sure - how u do that again??

Right click on the shotycut and choose properties, then in the target line put a space then -smp after the quotation marks (path should like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Folding@Home Windows SMP Client V1.01\[email protected]" -smp)

No, I'm not. I have 3 3340 WUs which are dragging me down. Let me speak for myself, I can see what WUs I have...

Tell me about it - had 2 out of 4 instances stuck with those all this week :o

On the plus side the one that just finished was replaced with a 1760 so there may be hope on the horizon for you :)

booyaka, that log shows a standard non-SMP WU - check your shortcut and restart the client :)

I was talking about the last couple of weeks in general; you've made up 100k on him! And I've been playing Oblivion half the day so my output's not been too great either. So it was just a light-hearted comment... never mind, I won't speak out of line again  *gets his head down and folds on*

hmm - well restarted client, deleted the old work folder but still not liking the WIn SMP.

It's EUE'd twice and then just suspended itself. Maybe something to do with the overclock but that was set yesterday and passed a 12 hour prime95 stable run just before i started folding again.

The gpu client is folding away quiet happy and nice to see my name no longer greyed out on the stats!!

I didn't think much of the new SMP client under Vista64 - didn't try going back to the new release of the older client as I went to VMWare and Ubuntu instead (fair bit of hassle getting that working under Vista also though :o)

The GPU client is great - awesome PPD, and with very few exceptions it just works. VMWare is a pain... are you running version 2, or version 1 with driver signing disabled?

booyaka, post your SMP log again with the errors and I'll have a look.

That's getting confused because it's trying to run a non-SMP WU using the SMP software. Looks like the first time you ran the SMP client you ran it without -smp, so it downloaded a normal WU. Now you need to delete the work folder from F:\FAH6.22beta2-win32-SMP-deino and delete the queue.dat file, then start the client again.

The GPU client is great - awesome PPD, and with very few exceptions it just works. VMWare is a pain... are you running version 2, or version 1 with driver signing disabled?

Version 1 with driver signing disabled - works most of the time but can get itself in a muddle from time to time - think maybe I need to get the network settings sorted as from time to time I lose sight of one of the machines in FahMon :o

booyaka, that log shows a standard non-SMP WU - check your shortcut and restart the client :)

Sorry Mattus, I didn't mean to bite your head off. Was just frustrated at these WUs that really dragged my production down. I was matching you more or less, but from EOC you can see my production has taken a turn for the worse :/

Hopefully that will change today tho, dumped my 2nd 3340 WU and the third should be done today as well. I'm back on the 1920s so bring it on

No worries :) It's pretty frustrating when you put time/money into folding and get rewarded with crap WUs. I dread waking up to a pair of those 3340s :( Here's to a September full of a2 cores!

i've not even bothered firing up the SMP part any more.

8800gt is doing a grand job on it's own - propelling me towards the 1 million point mark
