Had my first appointment today was a horrible experience for me this time

, i've had the camera down the throat before but this time i was throwing up again and again. All acid , struggling to breath which i didn't get before and choking. At the end of the experience i was shaking but atleast i got my results. I have a hiatius hernia , they could see my stomach protuding up into my gullet(?) and full of fluid hence the reason i was choking a lot during the test.

I also have signs of a stomach infection or atleast a bacterial problem because certain tests caused me pain which should not be felt to that level. So awaiting the results on that. At home now , very sore throat sore to drink or eat

, then another two days and i gotta have the lump scan

No Medical advice please as i'm already getting that , don't want the thread locked like last time.

I share your pain mate, I had surgery 2.5 years ago for Crohns disease. Looks like it may be back, so I am due for tests soon.

A colonoscopy being one of them :*(

The other is an MRI scan on the small bowel which thankfully is supposed to be a huge improvement over the disgusting and undignified Barium meal with x-rays.

To say I am gutted that this Crohns might be back is an understatement :/

Hope it goes well for you fella , while i was in the hospital a few people came in for a colonoscopy. I'm not a lover of hospital as it is , always brings back bad memories of family death and sickness

I've got a Hiatus Hernia as well, diagnosed many moons ago now. They then checked for a thing called (iirc) Barrett's Oesophagus, which I didn't have so they didn't operate on it.

For a while I was regularly taking things like gaviscon, but I eventually just stopped and I can't say it causes me any huge issues now really, just occasionally feeling sick, usually after heating spicy foods/drinking a bit, doesn't stop me though :p

Don't think that constitutes medical advice... :)

My Dad just had an operation 5 weeks ago to sort out his hiatius hernia. Thankfully it was done though keyhole and he was only in hospital for 2 days.

well 5 weeks later hes back and work and feeling much better.

I hope it goes well for you too.

That sounds nasty and good luck, and good luck to coldasice crohns is a hideous condition known a couple of people who had it.

I had/have a condition called achalasia (IIRC). It means my oesphagus doesn't push the food down well enough, nor did my stomach opening actually open enough. The camera was most uncomfortable! Thankfully fixed with keyhole surgery; it wasn't very nice not being able to eat at all.

I suffered really badly last night , incredible pain in my hernia area whatever position i tried to sleep it felt like i was being cut by a knife. Now today anything i swollow i feel with pain.

I'm so so tired and back to the doctors i go

Some good news the lump scan turned up a cyst , i could see it on the tv so no cancer there..

However still in pain from the hiatus hernia and endoscopy , eating food at the moment is like eating sharp chips :(

Been really bad lately and weight still dropping off , having trouble when i drive or exercise. My bowl's are in pain and i've also having trouble breathing (like someone putting pressure on my lower rib cage) when the pain is at it's worst at center point of chest. Whatever i eat i'm starving within 30mins healthy or unhealthy , toilet trips atleast 3 times or more in the mornings.

I've now been put in for an urgent scan for gallstones due to some of my symptons and many blood tests. One of them is Coliac disease and yes i do get a lot of mouth ulcers.

used to be 14stone now i'm only 11 :(

No i'm not asking for medical advice just giving people an update.

Sounds nasty that. I would hate to have the camera test and I'd only agree to it if they put me out. Had the colonoscopy a while back - thankfully with sedation and even then it wasn't nice!

They then checked for a thing called (iirc) Barrett's Oesophagus

this can lead to a thoracotomy and oesophagectomy if proven positive...not fun for anyone..

TO the OP, youll be fine the HH will be fixed, with a ring of muscle put in place to create a propper sphincter around your "gullet". stopping regurge.

rotters

Read my update , the HH may not be the source of my troubles...

However if it does turn out to be that then i'll go for keyhole :(

Thanks for all your kind support though ocukers

Sorry I didn't reply to your previous post. The surgery was fine. I ate straight afterwards, can eat totally normally now and cannot vomit at all. It's sore for a few days and takes a few weeks to heal properly but keyhole is great. You can only see pretty much 1 scar too now (of the 5).

Hope all goes well with the other tests. I sympathise fully - I went from 16 stone (overweight, mind) to 12½ in about a year. I lived on Berocca tablets and whatever would go down and stay down.
