As an owner of an early S1.0, I can confirm the panels are not 'cheap'
The plastic they use is better that the branded Perspex and Altuglas I have in my workshop.
Most 15 minute cuts don't inc recessed inlays, countersinking and chamfered edges.
A laser will so not bend and install standoff in the midpanel.
The metal power switch, hex headed screws and corners cubes are precision engineered.
But I accept you could make a knock off without the 'nice bits' for a lot less.
You could also make a smaller 20 litre version without that much extra effort (see sig)
Your paying for the R&D time as well as the product, proffit and overheads.
The aesthetics are not to everyones tastes - but they most definitely have a 'style'
