Back in the PC gaming world

As others have said - i imagine you want to be wowed with your new card and Rig.

Witcher 3, Alien Isolation, Doom, BF1 should be on your list. Farcry 4 looks amazing, but i found it a little repetitive.

Based on that, the first thing that comes to mind is Life is Strange (and the sequel Before the Storm). These are two of my favourite games of the last few years, if not ever.

I also agree with some mentioned here i.e. BF1, RE7 and especially Doom - that doesn't really have a story but is very immersive and fun. I might go for Prey next, hearing a lot of good things about it.

Just had a quick Google of Life is Strange, certainly looks different, will add it to the list.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Will definetly take a look at Alien Isolation, might scare me sh1tless though!

Got round to having a very very brief go on Witcher 3 last night after spending most of my evening overclocking the 1080 and getting the fan profile just set. Was not expecting the somewhat "racy" begining, graphics are certainly getting more and more realistic!

Lots of suggestions for you in this thread... keep you busy until 2020! ;)

The new Farcry 5 looks really good and as the FarCry series go they normally have a good plot.

Enjoy your new PC. :)

Thought I would be cracking into a good session last night as the missus was out and our son in bed. Loaded up Witcher three and it would just crash once I left the castle and met the girl sword training. Pretty much the exact spot every time. Black screen 100% fan speed and had to manually restart. Eventually found that if I run on medium settings it would carry on past the crash scene. I think I will have a play with the settings at the weekend see if I can get somethign stable.

Another vote for SOMA here.

I'm 25 hours into Prey at the moment and really enjoying it.

Alien Isolation I could only play for a hour or so to begin with - heart would be racing too much! Scary as but the very best film to game adaptation I've ever played.

The Metro games are very good if not already suggested. Pretty but linear - Wolfenstein is similar in pretty but linear.

Yes, Prey is a really good story rich game. Nearly to the end of it but have not played for about 3-4 months. I will get round to finishing it. ;)

Thats sounds like the driver crashing, is your 1080 overclocked at all, if so try lowering the overclock a bit.

although you have been recommended games to last you ages and Witcher 3 is definitely so so good (it's just so ******* good! SERIOUSLY!)

If you like space rpg I highly rate the Mass Effect trilogy (Andromeda not so much) if you get a chance :) I thought the story was incredible.

Divinity: Original Sin 2
&
Kingdom Come: Deliverance (new release & still having bugs ironed out)

Both very different games but both fantastic in their own right.

Firewatch is a great experience albeit quite short.

Assassins Creed: Origin - one of the best looking games to come out recently, very demanding. It does get very repetitive though, I normally like to squirrel out everything in games but I literally raced to the end it was that bad:P

Another +1 for Alien Isolation & Prey.

The last two Tomb Raider games are worth a play as are the last two Deus Ex games. All should be quite cheap now.
